Velp Scientifica – Manuale AREC.X
1
1. Introduction
The
AREC.X
heating magnetic stirrer with ceramic plate, is used in the laboratory
for general use and for all the applications that require a precise regulation of the
stirrer speed and the heating plate temperature. The instrument has a socket for
connection to the Vertex thermometer (cod. F208B0063) for the high-precision
control of the liquid temperature (± 0.5°C).
The ceramic heating plate
(1)
makes it possible to obtain higher temperatures
than with the traditional aluminium heating plate and a faster heating of the
sample. Ceramic is an inert and very hard material and is resistant to almost any
type of chemical or mechanical aggression; its surface characteristics remain
unaltered over time.
The AREC.X is used to mix liquids using the magnetic drive of a stir bar placed
inside the vessel. The size and shape of the magnetic stir bar determines the
efficiency of the stirring itself at any given stirring speed. It is therefore advisable
to choose the most suitable magnetic stir bar in relation to the quantity and
characteristics of the liquid and the type of vessel used.
The stir bar which satisfies most applications is code A00001060 (10x40 mm).
The stirring speed
(2)
and the temperature
(3)
of the heating plate, indicated on
the digital display
(4)
, are adjusted using the relative knobs on the front panel.
The “Hot Plate” light
(5)
turns on when the temperature of the heating plate is
higher than 50°C.
N.B. If the heating function is use, the vessel must be made of a suitable material
to withstand the foreseen temperaturet.
