The bike should now be hard to push as both front brakes should be rubbing
•
Now slacken off the adjustment on the front brake lever to loosen the brakes a little, this
should now allow both wheels to rotate with the brake lever released and the pads should
bite fairly strongly with light pressure

Test for balance by pushing the trike forward, if it pulls to the left, the right brake is not biting
at the same time and needs adjusting further, if it pulls to the right, the left brake is not biting
soon enough and needs adjusting earlier.
•
Properly balanced front brakes should apply at the same time and should not pull the bike to
the left or right at any stage of their application.
8.1.2 To adjust the rear brake.
•
Wind the adjustment wheel on the brake lever in so that it shows about 2mm of adjustment.
•
With an Allen key slacken the brake cable clamp on one of the front brakes and using your
hands or pliers pull it tight whilst clamping the brake pads tightly against the wheel rim with
your other hand – you can use a G-clamp to clamp the brakes to the wheel rim to make this
easier.
•
Tighten up the brake cable clamp noting that it will pull the cable slightly as you tighten it.
•
The bike should now be hard to push as the rear brake should be rubbing slightly.
•
Now slacken off the adjustment on the rear brake lever to loosen the brake a little, this should
now allow the wheel to rotate with the brake lever released and the brake blocks should bite
fairly strongly with light pressure.
•
The handbrake should now hold the bike properly when applied.
8.1.3 Replacing the brake blocks
The brake blocks can be replaced in the following manner.
•
Release the brake cable from the brake assembly by squeezing together the brake arms and
unhooking the brake cable from it.
