Rpms, feed rate

The drill feed is done manually with the 3-armed drill lever. The rotational speed is defined of
rotation is determined by the number of revolutions of the drill spindle and by the drill diameter.
The correct choice of feed rate and rotational speed of the drill spindle are deciding factors for
the drill’s lifespan. As a basic rule, the drill speed must be adjusted downward with increase
the drill diameter. The greater the firmness of the workpiece, the more cutting pressure must
be applied. To avoid overheating the drill as the cutting pressure is increased, the feed rate
and rotational speed must also be reduced. The drill must be also be cooled with drill oil.
For thin plates, quite large drillings must be done carefully at a low feed rate and little cutting
pressure, to ensure a precise cut and correct hole size. For deep drilling (greater than 2 x the
drill diameter) chip removal is more difficult and the drill temperature is higher.
Therefore lower the feed rate and rpm and withdraw the drill regularly for better chip removal.
For drilling at a diameter greater than 8 mm, pre-drilling is essential to avoid early wear of the
drill, i.e., its main cutting edge, and excessive load on the drill tip.

9  CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Attention! Pull the power plug before doing work of whatever kind on the
equipment, pull the power plug.

9.1

Cleaning

Keep the tool’s ventilation slots clean to prevent the motor from overheating.

Regularly clean the tool’s housing with a soft cloth, preferably after each use.

Keep the ventilation slots free from dust and dirt.

If the dirt does not come off use a soft cloth moistened with soapy water.

Never use solvents such as petrol, alcohol, ammonia water, etc. These
solvents may damage the plastic parts.

9.2

Lubrication.

The tool requires no lubrication. All bearings and drive gears are maintenance-free and
greased for the lifetime of the tool.
The drill must be cleaned with compressed air or a dry cloth. It is advisable to clean the blank
parts from time to time with environmentally friendly solvents and to only grease with acid-free
oil or grease.
