2. Depending of the bottom bracket shell to face, install the appropriate guides 

with the 

CD-38330

 key

 

 

 

- BSC/ISO/English : 

CD-38320-1.370

 (left-handed and right-handed)

 

 

- ITA/Italian : 

CD-38320-36

 

3. Slide the pilot through the guides, which were previously threaded in the frame. 

Then, place the second support ring against the bottom bracket shell, on the opposite 

side. Complete your assembly with the compression spring, the push bushing and the 

knurled knob. 

 

4. Generously and regularly spray the facing cutter and the being machined side 

of the frame with VAR 

CD-77000

 cutting fluid, in order to obtain qualitative results and 

expand your 

CD-38310-45

 facing cutter lifespan.

 

5. Rotate the tool support 

clockwise only

, to begin the bottom bracket shell 

facing. 

Any counterclockwise rotation will damage the facing cutter

After applying a slight pressure in the beginning, progressively rotate the knurled knob 

to increase the spring pressure.

Apply the required pressure to ensure a gentle facing, any excessive pressure could 

create dents on the surface being machined because of the facing cutter hooking on 

the bottom bracket shell surface.

The bottom bracket shell has to present a perfect machined surface.

 

6. Repeat the operation on the opposite side.

 

7. With a clean cloth, a brush and VAR 

NL-75300

 degreaser, thoroughly clean the 

bottom bracket shell, in order to remove any used cutting fluid and metal shavings.

 

8. Generously grease the bottom bracket shell threads with VAR high quality 

NL-76400

 & 

NL-78400 

P.T.F.E. grease or VAR 

NL-76600

 & 

NL-78600

 copper paste 

depending on your frame material.
