1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 General Description
The Model RFD-200 Series 2 (or RFD-200 S2) is a second-generation, microprocessor-based,
single-phase relay tester. The Model RFD-200 S2 was designed specifically to test
electromechanical, electronic, and microprocessor–based current or voltage relays. An AC
current source with 3 outputs (10A, 40A, and 100A) provides test current to the relays but can
also be used as a stand alone current source. One 0-250Vac voltage source and one 0-300Vdc
voltage source are available for testing relays or can be used as stand alone voltage sources.
The RFD-200 S2 has a built-in timer with independent start and stop trigger inputs designed to
measure the time between event transitions. The elapsed time is displayed in milliseconds and
cycles.
The RFD-200 S2 timer Start and Stop inputs has 3 different trigger modes:
Internal trigger Mode: The timer can be started or stopped by the turning on or off the
RFD-200 S2 voltage or current source.
Dry Contact Mode: A change of state of a dry-contact input will start or stop the timer.
Wet Contact Mode: The timer can be started or stopped by the presence or absence of a
voltage.
Three auxiliary power supplies (24Vdc, 124Vdc, 240Vac) are available to power electronic
relays under test. Each power supply is fused protected.
The RFD-200 S2 voltage and current source outputs are set by the front panel control knob. The
AC current source output is displayed on the RFD-200 S2 4 lines by 20 character back-lit LCD.
An external voltage input (0-600V) allows the user to monitor the RFD-200 S2 AC or DC
voltage outputs or any other external voltage input.
An external current input (0-6A) is available to measure current.
