Unit Raised Above Combustible Exposed Surface
Rules
1. A hearth is not required. However, any exposed surface in front of
fi
replace within 4 inches vertically of the bot-
tom of the unit must be non-combustible and project a minimum distance as shown on page 16. Hearth/

exposed surface within 4 inches must have a non-combustible

nish
applied over the 1/2 inch insulation board
provided with the engine. This insulation board acts as a thermal break.
2. Minimum hearth projection is determined by a combination of the height of the hearth above the surface of com-
bustible
fl
oor or carpet and the distance between the hearth and the bottom of the
fi
replace.
3. Combustible baseboards (1 inch thick or less) located on the wall are acceptable provided they are located
below the base of the raised
fi
replace.
