16. POWER FAILURE
The Starflow QSD has an internal capacitor that allows for 4 hours of a power outage.
This will allow the internal clock to keep operating for this period of time, but logging will
stop.
If the Starflow QSD has been programmed with a scheme and has been operating and
logging data for longer than 1 hour prior to a power outage, then if there is a power
outage for 4 hours or less this will allow the unit to continue logging data with the correct
date and time once the power has been restored. This will be shown in the data with a
data line of zeroes to show that there was a power outage. The 4 hours will allow for
changing site location or if changing batteries.
When the power has been off for a period longer than 4 hours, i.e., a solar power failure,
the clock time will be lost and will show a date of 01/01/1970 if power is re-applied. The
data will then continue to log correctly, but the date will be incorrect but will still allow
data to be captured, especially if there are any significant flow events.
