2. Important instructions for use
• To keep the device ready for use, you have to connect the tube of
the cuff with the corresponding connection of the manometer.
• Blood pressure measurements of the patient should be performed
under relaxed and calm conditions.
• The size of the cuff needs to selected to fit to the upper arm.
• Position the arm and palm facing upwards.
• In order to rule out differences between left and right and to obtain
comparable measurement results, it is important always to take
blood pressure measurements on the same arm.
• Please pay attention to the following recommendations of the EN
ISO 81060-1:
- To measure blood pressure levels of children between the age of
3 and 12 years, K4** of the Korotkoff sounds should be used to
determine the diastole.
- In pregnant patients, K5* should be applied. On rare occasions –
if Korotkoff sounds are still audible after completely venting the
cuff – it is advisable to use K4** to determine the diastolic blood
pressure. In any case, the correct measurement method should
be determined in agreement with a doctor.
*K5 is the phase in which the Korotkoff sounds cannot be heard
any more.
• Make sure that there are no clothes obstructing the blood flow of
the upper arm (e.g., by pulling up the sleeves).
