keep this operating instruction for future reference! In case of ownership change pass it on.
All work on this device must only be carried out according to this instruction
Safety instructions
This device has been manufactured according to the current state-of-the-art technology and by observing the current safety regulations. Nevertheless, danger for persons and property
can arise from this device if it is used improperly and not according to the intended usage, or if the safety instructions are not observed.
WARNING: UV- rays are dangerous for eyes and skin. The UV-C-ray emitter must not be operated if it has been taken out of the housing!
CAREFUL: This device contains an UV-C ray emitter! Unintended use of the device or damage to the housing can lead to emission of the dangerous UV-C rays. UV-C rays can cause damage to
the eyes and skin also in small quantities.
• The device must not be operated if persons are in the water!
• The device must be separated from the mains before any work (Installation, maintenance, etc.) or before you reach with your hands into the water!
• The power supply must meet the product specifications. Do not connect the device, if the power supply does not meet the specified regulations! Further information can be
obtained from your local, approved electrician.
• The power supply of the device must be secured by a fault current protection switch (FI or RCD) with a rated fault current of maximum 30 mA.
• The mains connection of the device must be at a distance of more than 3.5 m away from the pond.
• It is not permitted to open the device or accompanying parts if not explicitly pointed out in this operating instruction. This also applies to technical modifications to the device.
• The device is fitted with an integrated protective switch, which interrupts the power supply automatically, if the device is opened.
• The mains plug and all connection locations must always be kept dry. The connecting cable of the device must be routed protected to avoid possible damages.
• The device must only be put into operation after all components and hose connections have been installed.
• Ensure that the device is switched off if no water flows through the device or no filter sponge is in the device.
• The device must only be operated at a water temperature b5 °C and +35 °C.
• Devices with obvious damages must not be operated! It is not possible to replace the power cable. If the cable gets damaged; the UV-C device must be correctly disposed of.
• Never carry or pull the device by the power cable!
• Never look directly into the switched on UV-C ray emitter, but always check the function with the device closed through the provided inspection glass.
• The device is not suitable for usage by persons (Including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised by
a person responsible for their safety or they have been instructed in the usage of the device. Children must be supervised to ensure that they are not playing with the device.
Application area
The PowerClear 5000/9000 are combined devices for usage under water, consisting of pump and integrated UV-C device for pre-filtering and UV-C irradiation of normal polluted pond
water. These devices must only be used in ponds with or without fish. Usage in swimming pools is prohibited. Ubbink will not be liable for damages due to incorrect usage or not
observing this operating instruction.
Start-up
WARNING: The device must be separated from the mains when carrying out installation work!
Assembling the device
• Assemble flow controller, telescoping pipe and fountain nozzles and screw onto the connecting thread of the UV-C housing.
• Extend the telescope pipe to the desired length and align vertically.
• The height and shape of the fountain jet depends on the fountain nozzle used.
• Close the second controllable outlet at the flow controller or use it for the hose connection with a gargoyle or beck course.
• The fountain jet height as well as the water quantity for the second outlet can be set separately with the respective flow controller.
Installing the device
Position the device in the pond horizontally on a solid base free from sludge in such a way that it is fully submerged in the water.
Switching on and off the device
The pump and UV-C device can only be switched on and off simultaneously. Due to the integrated safety switch the UV-C device only switches on, if the housing of the device is
correctly closed.
Careful! Dangerous electric voltage
Device parts and pond water can be under dangerous electric voltage in case of defective cables or components. Therefore, always pull the mains plug first before working on the
device or reaching into the water with your hands.
