INSPECTING THE CONVEYORS
For the weekly inspection of the Feed and QC Conveyors:
1. Check belt for any fraying or physical damage:
a) Ensure the guide fin on the bottom is not damaged.
2. Check belt tension. Belt should be flat on the conveyor with the fin seated
in the conveyor groove:
a) Clean the belt and rollers.
b) Turn conveyor on and apply a light resistance to the belt to check
for slippage or stuttering. Tighten belt if slipping still occurs.
OVERTIGHTENING CAN REDUCE THE LIFESPAN OR DAMAGE THE BELT.
ALWAYS COUNT THE ROTATION WHEN ADJUSTING THE TENSIONING NUTS,
AND ONLY TIGHTEN THEM UNTIL THE BELT STOPS SLIPPING.
3. Check sidewall height, ensuring there is at least a 1/8” gap between the
belt and the wall.
a) Turn the conveyor on, and apply a vertical force on the sidewall to
ensure there is no contact between the wall and belt when workers
lean on the wall.
b) Raise the wall height the conveyor belt rubs on the sidewall (for
instructions see Adjusting Conveyor Sidewall Height on page 25).
4. Inspect chutes to make sure there is no contact between the machine or
belts. Check for any cracking or damage to the chute.
5. Check all casters, ensuring all wheels spin and lock.
6. Check conveyor leg knobs, ensuring all are present and tight.
7. Turn on conveyors to 10 ft/s, and record the current rating on the HMI.
Current should read 0.5-1.2A.
a) Keep a log to help troubleshoot issues in the future.
