The batteries must be replaced or the rechargeable batteries charged up as soon as 
only  1  bar  appears  on  the  battery  display  when  the  device  is  switched  on.  If  the 
message

  additionally  appears  on  the  display  then  the  device 

switches  itself  off  automatically  for  protection  if  the  battery  voltage  is  too  low.  The 
exact battery voltage can additionally be displayed for checking purposes:

To  change  the  measuring  probe,  switch  off  the  device  first,  connect  the  desired 
measuring  probe  to  the  probe  cable  and  then  switch  on  the  device  again.  If  no 
measuring probe is connected to the device or if the probe cable has no connection 
to the device, a message is displayed when the device is switched on and the device 
switches itself off again automatically.
