TRANSMISSION DRIVE BELT

The belt delivers power from the engine to the
transmission.

The best does not need attention unless it starts to
slip.

NOTE: If the belt starts to slip check belt tension as
described below. If the tension is correct, the belt
MUST be replaced.

NOTE: Do not over tighten the belt. Over tightening
the belt will cause damage to the engine and/or
transmission.

WARNING: Before starting any work:

1. Allow the engine and muffler to cool before

starting work.

2. Remove the spark plug wire from the spark

plug.

3. Place the throttle control to the Stop position.

CHECK AND ADJUST TRANSMISSION
DRIVE BELT TENSION

1. Remove the spark plug wire, A, from the spark

plug, B.

2. Remove transmission shield, A, after removing

two bolts, B.
