Installation and User Guide

Step 1 - Connecting the cords and adaptors and positioning

the home console

The home console should be positioned so that it can be

clearly heard and sound is not restricted from entering the

microphone.
Step 1A – Plug the power adaptor into the home console

socket labeled AC and then connect to a non-switch

controlled (always on) electrical outlet. Note – Only the

mains adaptor (part number XD5206007) can be

used with the CEL450.
Step 1B – Connect the external GSM cellular antenna into

the home console socket labeled  and place the antenna

in a suitable place to give optimum network signal

strength.
Often the strongest signal can be found close to a window.

The antenna should be located at least 12” away from the

base unit.
Always mount the antenna vertically on a metal surface or use the metal disc supplied, which can

be secured to a flat surface using Velcro pads (also supplied).
The signal strength should be checked by viewing the home console’s large status

LED (see page 13). Try to position the antenna so that the indicator shows green (a

strong signal). If green cannot be obtained but amber is shown (medium signal), this

is acceptable. If red or white is shown and re-positioning the unit/antenna does not

allow it to be improved upon, then you should contact customer service for advice.

Note that it may take up to 30 seconds for a change in signal level to be shown.

Step 1C – Stand the help activator radio reception antenna upright (see diagram above).
Step 1D – Adjust speaker volume if required (see page 11 for more details).
Step 2 – Home Console Testing

Press the red HELP button on the home console to connect to the monitoring center.

You will hear a series of beeps and tones as the home console connects, after which

an operator will guide you from there.
Step 3 – Help activator Range Test
Press and hold the green RESET button on the home console until you hear a beep.

After releasing the button, the home console will announce ‘programming mode’ and

the green LED will flash. While in this mode, a signal cannot be transmitted to the

monitoring center. Test the range by pressing the help activator from different

locations in your home. If you are within range the home console will beep and
