4. Install the system into the rack
Ensure proper floor support and ensure the floor loading specification are
adhered to. Failure to do so may result fatal injury to you or damage to the
equipment and the facility
4.1 Rack Safety Instructions
4.1.1 Precautions for Handling the system
Do not unpack, lift or carry the system by yourself. Always have another person
available to help you move or lift the system
When configured with a full set of drives, power supply and server board, the system
weighs will be over 100 pounds. Take the following precautions to avoid problems or
potential injury as you handle the B410PT blade chassis
Prepare a flat, sturdy surface before taking out the chassis, the working surface
that will hold the chassis should be as close as possible to the package
Both people should follow these steps to life or move the chassis
Stand with your legs shoulder-width apart to maintain balance
Bend on your hips and knees, not at your waist
Use your leg muscles to lift
Lift with a smooth motion
Keep the chassis close to your body and at waist level to lessen the load on
your back
To turn while holding the chassis, use your feet, do not twist your back
4.1.2 Precautions for installing the chassis into the Rack
DO not install the blade chassis in a two ports, or telco-styple rack. These chas-
sis cannot be mounted safety in a two-post rack.
Care should be taken to ensure a hazardous condition is not created due to
uneven mechanical loading. Ensure that the entire rack assembly is properly
secured. Tipping hazards may cause personal injury and death. The following
guidelines are provided to ensure your safety:
DO not exceed the weight limit recommended for your rack
When mounting this unit in a partially filled rack, load the rack from the
bottom to the top with the heaviest component at the bottom of the rack
If the rack is provided with stabilizing devices, install the stabilizers before
mounting or servicing the unit in the rack.
