Operating Modes and User Interface
This chapter describes the operating modes of the P

OUNT

Respirator Fit Tester
and describes the options available through the user
interface (touch screen).
Modes of Operation
There are two modes of operation: External Control (using F
IT
P
RO
™
software) and Stand-alone.
External Control
Mode
The P
ORTA
C
OUNT
®
P
RO
Respirator Fit Tester is
operating in External Control Mode when it is
being controlled by F
IT
P
RO
™
software running
on your computer. If you attempt to perform an
operation from the P
ORTA
C
OUNT
®
P
RO
touch
screen while it is being controlled by F
IT
P
RO
™
software, a message appears asking if you want
to unlock the P
ORTA
C
OUNT
®
P
RO
fit tester.
If you
respond
YES
, the P
ORTA
C
OUNT
®
P
RO
fit tester
breaks the connection with the computer (and the
F
IT
P
RO
™
software) and begins to operate in
stand-alone mode

You may lose data already collected in the
active flash drive database.

Stand-alone Mode
The P
ORTA
C
OUNT
®
P
RO
Respirator Fit Tester is
operating in Stand-alone Mode when it is
NOT
controlled by F
IT
P
RO
™
software running on your
computer. When you turn the P
ORTA
C
OUNT
®
P
RO
fit tester on, the instrument automatically begins
a warm-up period. When the warm-up period is
over, a beep sounds and the touch-screen display
appears. The P
ORTA
C
OUNT
®
P
RO
fit tester is now
ready for Fit Testing and other stand-alone
operations.
