Installation
1
Connect the Fence ground terminal to a
separate ground system that is at least 33’
(10 m) away from other ground systems.
2
Connect the Fence output terminal to the
fence.
3
Connect the unit to a 12 V battery using
the battery leads. Attach the + (red) clip to
the positive terminal of the battery, and the
– (black) clip to its negative terminal.
4
To prevent damage caused by stock
interference and bad weather, house the
battery and the unit in protective
enclosures.
Mounting the unit
The unit can be mounted directly onto a steel Y-
post or T-post using the post-mounting slot in
the rear case. To mount onto a wooden post, use
two 75 mm (3”) nails and two washers. Thread
washers onto the nails. Space the nails
75 mm (3”) apart (or one nail length). Hammer
in the nails, allowing them to protrude by 10 mm
(3/8”). Slide the unit onto the nails with the
washers inside the post-mounting slot.
Operation
Connect the unit to a 12 V battery.
The pulse indicator light flashes each time the
unit pulses.
Battery information
Use a 12 V rechargeable sealed lead-acid
battery.
Do not dispose of the battery in a land-fill or in a
fire.
In the event of a spill or leakage from a sealed
lead-acid battery:
•
Contain small spills with dry sand, earth
and vermiculite. Do not use combustible
materials. If possible, carefully neutralise
spilled electrolyte with soda ash, sodium
bicarbonate, lime, etc.
•
Wear acid-resistant clothing, boots, gloves
and a face shield.
•
Do not let un-neutralised acid get into the
sewage system.
•
Neutralised acid must be managed in
accordance with approved local, state and
federal requirements. Consult your state
environmental agency and/or federal EPA.
Battery protection
To ensure the battery remains in good condition,
the unit will automatically turn off once the
battery is flat. The unit will restart once the
battery has been recharged or replaced.
