Chain Free-Movement Inspection
1. Maximum movement position
Place the motorcycle on a level surface and
hold it in an upright position with no weight
on it.
Rotate the rear wheel by pushing the
motorcycle to find the position where the
chain is tightest, and measure the vertical
movement of the chain midway between the
sprockets.
The vertical movement of the drive chain
must be in the range:

1. Adjuster clamp bolt
2. C-spanner
3. Eccentric adjuster
Loosen the adjuster clamp bolt.
Using the C-spanner supplied in the tool kit,
turn the rear hub/eccentric adjuster
(clockwise to loosen, counter-clockwise to
tighten) until the drive chain is correctly
adjusted.
Tighten the clamp bolt to
40 lbf ft (55 Nm)
.
Repeat the chain adjustment check. Re-adjust
if necessary.
Check the rear brake effectiveness.
Warning
Before starting work, ensure the
motorcycle is stabilized and adequately
supported. This will help prevent injury to
the operator or damage to the motorcycle.

insecure rear hub/eccentric adjuster clamp
