Align the stopper:
3. Move the grinding head (2) downwards.
Using the alignment screw (11), introduce the cutting tooth to the grinding disk until the
cutting tooth (25) lies fl at on the grinding disk (8) (see image 2).
4. Fix the chain link using the fixing screw (9).
Sharpen:
5.
Switch on the equipment (see “switching on and off “).
6. By putting gentle pressure on the handle (3), move the grinding head (2) upwards and
sharpen the cutting tooth.
7. Switch off the equipment to move the chain onwards.
Loosen the fixing screw (9) and, with the aid of the alignment stopper (10) and the fixing
screw (9), fix the next chain link that is to be sharpened.
Start by sharpening the teeth on one side of the chain. Then adjust the rake angle and
sharpen the teeth on the other side.
Checking the sharpening angle
Most commonly used chains have a tooth angle of 25 or 30 degrees. The tooth angle is
usually given on the packaging of the chain. If you do not know the exact angle, it is usually
sufficient to look at existing teeth. You can measure the angle of teeth for proper guidance
of the wheel. Tighten the chain tension knob firmly so that it does not move during
sharpening. Then move the chain tooth to the correct position under the grinding wheel. The
shield will copy the tooth contour curve.
Check the depth limiter distance.
The cutting links, which comprise a cutting tooth (25) and a depth limiter lug (26), are the
sawing parts of the chain. The height distance between these two is determined by depth
limiter distance A.
1. After every third sharpening process, check depth limiter distance A against the saw
chain manufacturer’s specifications.
2. Use a fl at fi le to fi le down the height of the depth limiter lug and, after resetting, round
off the depth limiter lug a little. The original shape must remain intact.
Maintenance and cleaning
Disconnect from the mains before carrying out any work on the equipment.
