GRAYNESS
Grayness evaluates the contamination of one color on another.
The gray component is measured to check the consistency of
the printed ink during a press run. If the reading is beyond the
normal value, it is an indication that there may be a tack
problem, trapping, or ink contamination, etc.
Grayness Equation:
% Grayness =
D
min
x 100
D
max
Where:
D
max
=
High density value
D
min
=
Low density value
Measurement Location:
Grayness measurement is made at the solid patches on the
color bar.
