Connect the printer cable to the USB port.

Connect the printer’s power cable to a wall outlet and turn on
the printer.
Connecting a serial or parallel printer
CAUTION: For a parallel or serial printer, never connect the
printer cable while the computer’s power is on. Doing so
may damage the printer, the computer, or both.

If the computer is on, turn it off.

Connect the computer to the port replicator.

Connect the printer cable to the parallel port on the port
replicator.

Connect the printer’s power cable to a wall outlet and turn on
the printer.

Turn on the computer.
