2.3 Cautions on Replacement of TOSDIC
In TOSDIC, the POC system loader is used to construct the DPCS functions. In TOSDIC-CIE DS, these
operations are done by the DPCS Builder. Therefore, you must have the DPCS builder and a machine to run
it.
(1) DPCS Builder
The DPCS Builder operates on the MS-DOS environment. Execute it at the MS-DOS prompt of
Windows 95 or Windows 98.
For information on the machines on which the builder operates, consult with us.
(2) Uploading the Existing DPCS
If you have build your DPCS with POC, the information created there cannot be used by the DPCS
Builder. In this case, you need to upload the information in the existing DPCS to the DPCS Builder after
you replace hardware.
The following are the procedure and cautions.
c
Use the PCS-DS engineering tool to register the system configuration of DPCS and create the
download file for VETHX1.
d
Tentatively replace the hardware. Basically this work is carried out with the power left ON so that
the information saved in each control card is not erased. It is also necessary to prevent the
information from being erased by power-OFF by checking the memory backup lithium batteries
installed in VSVPX1 and replacing them if they are old. After replacement, make sure that no
battery alarm occurs. During the hardware replacement, do not remove VSVPX1. If the power is cut
off, make sure that the ALM-LED light of each control card is not ON when the power is resumed.
If the ALM-LED light is ON, the information may have been erased. In such a case, it is necessary to
download from the old system and recover the information.
1)
Replace the power of main control unit VMCUX1 with that of VPWSX32. In the event that, at
the time of replacement, control cards other than communication control cards are installed in
VMCUX1, perform the replacement on an online service. If the power is redundant, replace
one power after the other. If the power is not redundant, insert VPWSX32 into the empty
power slot and then return the power ON.
2)
Set the powers of the communication control cards of slots 11 and 13 to OFF before removing
them from VMCUX1.
3)
After inserting VETHX1 into slot 11 and then connecting it with the PCS tool, turn on the
power. As the PCS tool to be connected with, select either the maintenance connector (CN1) or
the Ethernet control LAN bus A connector (CN2 or CN4). In the case of going through the
Ethernet control LAN, it is necessary to set the address beforehand.
e
Download the system configuration of DPCS from the PCS-DS engineering tool to VETHX1.
f
Use the PCS-DS Engineering Tool to upload all the card information of DPCS. However,
