Throttle Control
The throttle control is variable between the F
AST
and S
LOW
positions. Moving throttle lever forward increases the engine
speed and moving it rearward decreases the engine speed
(
Figure 5 ).
Blade-Control Switch (Power Takeoff)
The blade-control switch (PTO) engages and disengages
power to the mower blades (
Figure 5 ).
Fuel-Presence Window
Use the fuel window, located on the left side of the machine,
to verify the presence of gasoline in the tank (
Figure 6 ).
Height-of-Cut Lever
The height-of-cut lever allows you to lower and raise the deck
from the seated position. When you raise the lever (toward
you), the deck is raised from the ground, and when you lower
it (away from you), it lowers to the ground. Adjust the height
of cut only while the machine is not moving (
Figure 15 ).
Key Choice ® Switch
This switch allows you to mow in reverse when it is activated.
To activate it, turn the switch to the O
N
position and release
it after the PTO is engaged. To deactivate it, disengage the
PTO (
Figure 6 ).
Operating-in-Reverse Warning Light
The operating-in-reverse warning light illuminates
whenever you use the KeyChoice key to deactivate the
operating-in-reverse interlock. It is a reminder that the
interlock system is deactivated. The light goes out whenever
you disengage the PTO or shut off the engine. When the light
is on, look behind you and use extra caution when backing up.
SmartPark ™ Switch
The parking brake is activated electronically.
Engage the parking brake by 1 of the following actions:

Press the SmartPark
™
switch to the O
N
position ( Figure
5 ).
•
The parking brake engages automatically when the
operator leaves the seat and the traction-control pedal is
in N
EUTRAL
position.
•
The parking brake automatically engages 5 to 6 seconds
after the ignition switch is turned to the O
FF
position (if
not already engaged).
To disengage the parking brake, press the Smartpark switch
to the O
FF
position with the key in the R
UN
position.
Hour Meter (Model 74787 Only)
The hour meter records the number of hours when the
operator is in the seat and the ignition switch is in the O
N
position ( Figure 7 ).
