If Skid Sprayer is stored over 30 days the engine
needs to be protected or drained of fuel to prevent
gum from forming in the fuel system or essential
carburetor parts. See the B & S Engine Manual
for complete storage instructions.
CHECK SPARK PLUG:
Every 50 hours of operation, clean the area around
the base of the plug and check its condition. Reset
the gap to .030 in. (0.76 mm) or replace with a
new resistor spark plug as necessary. See FIG. 4.
Do not blast clean. Clean by scraping or wire
brushing and washing with a commercial solvent.
ENGINE MAINTENANCE (Contd)
CLEAN AIR INTAKE/COOLING AREAS:
To insure proper cooling, make sure the screen,
cooling fins and other external surfaces of the
engine are kept clean at all times.
NOTE: Operating the engine with a blocked
screen, dirty or plugged cooling fins, and/or
cooling shrouds removed, will cause engine
damage due to overheating.
Every 100 hours of operation (more often under
dusty, dirty conditions), remove the blower housing
and other cooling shrouds. Clean the cooling fins
and external surfaces as necessary. Make sure
the cooling shrouds are reinstalled.
