3.3 Testing correct display and function (self-test)
In accordance with EN 51010-1 voltage testers must
be checked if they function correctly, briefly before
and whenever possible after the use, for determi-
ning absence of voltage.
Step 1 – Test of the display
The device must be switched off for the self test.
Press and hold button
. All display segments
light up on the display, the backlight switch
between red and white. Additionally all LEDs flash
as well as a buzzer sound can be heard.
Release button
, “TEST“ is indicated on the
display and the function test is required.
Step 2 – Function test
Hold the test electrodes together. The display
shows „Rdy“ and the green LED „Ω“ lights up.
Through this, the overall functions and the
connection line have been tested and the tester is
ready for use.
If the display shows „Err“ after 4 seconds, the
self-test was not successful. The voltage tester
may not be placed into operation!
Note:
The battery-independent red LED
is not checked by these self-test. A daily check is
not neccessary due to the highly reliable function.
Alternative test the correct function at an known
voltage source > 50 V AC and > 120 V DC.
Both systems must indicate:
- the red LED
- the voltage value on the display
Attention!
If one of the displays fails during the self-test, even
if only partial failure occurs, the voltage tester may
not be placed into operation!
3.4 Set of the electrode length (only DSP 5ST)
The length of the test electrodes can be set to
16 mm or 4 mm:
Long:
turn the sleeve
right and push it back
until it snaps in.
Short:
pull the sleeve
forward and secure
it by turning it to the left.
Note:
The imprinted indication in the field CAT II / CAT IV
is not important for voltage testers.
