T-Cube Laser Source
4.2.1 Output Potentiometer Operation
The OUTPUT potentiometer is an infinite turn encoder, used to adjust the output of
the laser. To increase the output, turn the potentiometer clockwise - once the
maximum output is attained, subsequent clockwise turns have no effect, however the
output decreases immediately the control is turned anticlockwise. Similarly, once the
output has been decreased to zero, subsequent anticlockwise turns have no effect,
but the output increases immediately the control is turned clockwise.
4.2.2 Mode Button Operation
The display can be set to show the laser output in mW, mA or dBm. The MODE button
is used to switch between these modes of operation. The current setting is indicated
by a ‘dash’ in the LED display.
The MODE button also allows the user to select the method of adjusting the laser
power; front panel potentiometer or via a 0 to 10V source connect to the rear panel
EXT IN connector.
The menu options are described in the following pages. To cycle through the menu
options, press the MODE button briefly (i.e. press for less than than 1 second).
To save (persist) a menu option, press and hold the MODE button for more than 1
second.
Caution
The output power of the TLS001-635 can be driven beyond 2.5mW. The
displays, both LED and GUI are accurate up to 2.5mW readings, higher
outputs are not linear and laser output can be higher than displayed.
Operating the TLS001-635 beyond the 2.5mW limit will shorten the life of
the laser diode.
