NOTICE
Turning on and off the UV lamp too often can reduce the lifetime of the
UV lamp.
•
Do not turn off the UV lamp if you intend to use the detector again
within 24 hours. If you want to use the detector the next day, leave
the UV lamp turned on and operate the detector with a flow rate of
0.05 mL/min.
•
If the detector is not used for a longer time (for example, over the
weekend), turn off the UV lamp to save lamp life time and energy.
•
When resuming operation, let the flow equilibrate and verify that
the operating parameters for the other system modules are set as
required before proceeding.
6.8.2
Long-Term Shutdown
Shutting Down the Device
To interrupt operation for a longer period, follow the instructions below.
TIP
Shutting down the device affects the operation of the system. When
shutting down the device, also observe the shutting down instructions
for the other Vanquish system modules and take appropriate action
(refer to the
Operating Manuals
for the modules).
1. If the pump flow is stopped for a longer time, or if the flow cell is to
be shipped or stored, observe the steps in
2. Turn off both lamps.
3. Stop the pump flow.
4. Remove the column.
5. Connect the free ends of the column compartment capillaries using
a union connector (for example, the Viper union from the system
ship kit) and restart the pump flow.
