Connection
Analogue connection to a stereo source
Computer sound card, MP3 player, satellite re
-
ceiver, TV set, game console, CD player, DJ mixer,
Discman, Walkman and much more.
The Motiv 2 is perfect for direct connection to
any music player having one or two audio outputs.
These are usually recognised by a 3.5 mm stereo
mini-jack socket or two cinch sockets (“line out
left / right”).
Typical sound card output
Depending on the source device, these outputs
are connected either directly with a mini-jack
stereo cable to “MP3” or “PC” or with a stereo
cinch cable to “Aux” left / right on the subwoofer.
Connecting the satellites
The two satellites are con-
nected directly to the
speaker terminals on the
subwoofer, using a speaker
cable.
Strip and split the ends of
the speaker cable as shown.
Speakers and amplifiers have corresponding [+] and
[–] poles. The [+] line of the speaker cable is marked
with a stripe. It is important that you observe the
correct polarity when connecting the speakers: the
plus pole of the speaker to the plus pole of the am
-
plifier and the minus pole of the speaker to the mi
-
nus pole of the amplifier. Connecting the cables with
the incorrect phases can result in thin sound, weak
bass and reduced stereo characteristics. Therefore
it is important that all speakers are connected with
the correct polarity to ensure an appropriate three-
dimensional atmosphere and the correct alignment
of the sound.
