Troubleshooting

The following instructions should help you to solve problems. If this doesn’t work, please contact our hotline (see 

page 3

). 

Mind the warranty instructions.

Problem

Possible cause

Solution

The device doesn’t work, 
the display is dark.

No power supply.

Check that the power plug is properly seated.
Check the function of the socket with another 
device.

No CD/DVD playback

No CD/DVD inserted.

Insert a CD/DVD.

CD/DVD inserted with the bottom up.

Insert the CD/DVD with the printed side up.

The regional code of the DVD does not 
correspond to that of the device.

Insert a DVD with the correct regional code.

Incorrect type of CD/DVD.

Insert the correct type of CD/DVD.

CD/DVD damaged or dirty.

Clean or change the CD/DVD.

Condensation in the device.

Take out the CD/DVD and do not use the 
device for one or two hours.

No picture

The television is not turned on.

Turn on the television.

The wrong AV input jack has been se-
lected on the television.

Select the right AV input jack on the television 
(e. g. HDMI 1).

The connector cable is incorrectly wired or 
loose.

Correct the cable connections.

Connector cable damaged.

Replace the connector cable.

CD/DVD dirty.

Clean the CD/DVD.

Incorrect video output jack or incorrect 
HDMI format selected on the DVD pre-
ceiver.

Check the settings and, if applicable, change 
them (see page 33, items 5 and 6).

Incorrect setup settings.

Reset factory settings (page 35).

Picture fuzzy/distorted.

CD/DVD damaged or dirty.

Clean or change the CD/DVD.

Incorrect colour standard (PAL/NTSC) set 
on the television or device.

Reset the colour standard (PAL/NTSC). PAL is 
the correct standard in Germany and West-
ern Europe (except for France).

Fault caused by interconnected devices 
such as video recorders.

Connect the devices directly.

DVD preceiver picture format has the 
wrong setting.

Set the picture format correctly (page 33).

Picture format selected incorrectly on the 
DVD menu.

Select the right picture format.

“CORRECTING DISC
ERROR..” on the top left of 
the screen.

CD/DVD damaged or dirty.

Clean or change the CD/DVD.

NEXT, PREV, GOTO don’t 
work.

Some DVDs don’t allow skipping, for 
example, during the warning notice at the 
beginning.

Continue playback.

The DVD only has one chapter.

Alternative: Fast forward.

No audio channel or not 
all audio channels are 
audible.

Devices have not been turned on or have 
been incorrectly set.

Activate devices and make the correct set-
tings.

Devices wired improperly.

Wire the devices properly.

Incorrect DVD audio track selected.

Select another DVD audio track with the but-
ton “AUDIO” on the remote control.

Television or DVD preceiver muted 
(“MUTE”).

Push the MUTE button to deactivate muting.

Function PAUSE, STEP, SLOW or SEARCH 
active.

Switch to normal playback with the button 
PLAY.
