COOKING WITH THE FRYER
COOKING HOME-BATTERED FOODS
This alternative method requires extreme care.
If you place wet batter in the basket prior to cooking, the food may stick. Coat the food in batter and
leave it to drain slightly to remove any excess.
Ensure the correct cooking temperature has been reached. Lower the EMPTY basket into the oil.
•
Open the lid of the fryer. Using a pair of tongs, slowly lower the coated food carefully into the
hot oil - this allows the batter to solidify and prevents it sticking to the mesh of the basket.
Allow the food to cook as normal.
•
USING THE LID
The basket may be covered or uncovered during
cooking. We recommend that the fryer is used
with the basket uncovered as this will lessen
the chance of an accident. During the preheating
process, the lid may be used to cover the fryer if
required.
Always hold the lid by the handle when attaching
or removing it. Use a recommended oil - do not
mix oils or fats.
WHEN THE FOOD IS COOKED
Lift the basket, Place it in the raised position and wait a few seconds to let the oil drain off and
•
the steam to subside.
Shake the basket slightly to remove excess oil
•
Transfer the food carefully to a heatproof utensil and return the basket to the fryer in the raised
•
position.
If the food is not fully cooked: Lower the basket into the oil, and continue cooking.
•
Take into account the type of food when you set the frying temperature. Generally, precooked
•
foods need a higher cooking temperature than raw foods.
AFTER COOKING
If you need to add oil, do so between batches. Allow the oil to heat up to the right temperature
•
before continuing (“Ready” light on).
Follow your recipe to help you cook food for the correct time.
•
Ensure there is enough room to operate the frying basket.
•
Use the fryer in well ventilated conditions. All food contains moisture which turns to steam
•
during frying.
Ensure that the food is completely immersed in the oil.
•
Cook food thoroughly. Food may turn golden brown before it has cooked through.
•
Do not lean over the fryer when cooking food.
•
Check the progress of the food during cooking.
•
Do NOT touch the metal surfaces of the fryer during cooking.
•
Always hold the basket by the handle during cooking.
•
Do not shake the basket when it is in the oil - hot oil causes severe burns!!
•
Return the basket to the fryer in the LOWERED position.
•
Switch off the mains socket and unplug the fryer.
•
Place the lid on the fryer.
•
Leave the appliance to cool fully before cleaning.
•
Note: If you are using solid fat, remove the basket from the
•
fryer before the fat in the tank solidifies. Leave the basket on a
heatproof surface to cool after removing it from the fryer and
before washing it as described elsewhere in the manual.
