The optical fiber connector is located on right side of the ONT when viewed from the
rear. A removable cover protects the connector and prevents any inadvertent exposure
to the laser when no cable is installed.
DANGER!
Optical Fibers emit invisible laser radiation. Avoid direct exposure to the beam.
Never look into the end of a Fiber or into a Fiber connector on a cable or a device.
Permanent eye damage or blindness can occur quickly from laser radiation.
1. Remove power from the ONT.
2. Turn the ONT upside down with the edge having all the connectors facing away.
3. Press on the ONT optical fiber cable connector cover with a thumb and push the
cover away from you in the direction of the arrow until it slides off the ONT case
(Figure 1)
.
4. Remove the protective dust cover from the ONT optical connector that was
exposed when the cover was removed (if present).
5. Clean the optical cable connector and then orient cable connector so that the
raised key molded onto one side of the cable connector matches the keyway in
the ONT connector
(Figure 2)
. It is important that the fiber is cleaned on every
intallation of the fiber.
