the use of telephones directly connected to the same line. It is necessary to use a mechanism known as “
splitter
”,
which separates the band frequencies used for voice telephony from those used by the ADSL connection to transmit
data. This way, interferences between the telephone and ADSL services are avoided. The next figure shows a typical
installation with a
splitter

The G. Lite (ITU G.922.2) operating mode uses reduced transmission power. It allows the use of telephones directly
connected to the same line through the installation of a “micro-filter”. This device ensures that the ADSL signal does
not reach the telephone and that undesired signals generated by the telephone do not interfere with the ADSL signal.
A typical installation with micro-filters is shown in next figure.
