Appendix A: Wiring & Switch Settings
Wiring Connections
The proper connections between the DaVinci and the PC are made when the enclosed
specially wired RS232 serial cables are used. The following diagram illustrates this
wiring set-up.

The DaVinci uses a three-wire serial communication system (transmit, receive, ground).
Jumpers between pins 4 and 5, and between 6 and 20, can be used to disable hardware
handshaking. The Techno controller card is configured as a DTE system and the
computer (PC) host is assumed to be a DCE system (i.e., pin 2 sends information and pin
3 receives information). The serial controller makes use of standard circuits and will
operate with most PC's. The PC should be configured as a DCE device.
The communication parameters require the following settings:
9600 Baud
8 Bits
1 Stop bit
No Parity
