• whether the smoke detectors are still attached to the ceiling.
• whether the casing is damaged.
• whether fire smoke can reach the smoke detectors unhindered.
This can be hindered, for example, by the later installation of room
partitions or very high cupboards or shelves.
The minimum gap to walls, items of furniture etc. must be 60 cm.
• whether the individual rooms are used differently.
Minimum equip-
ping:
in bedrooms, children’s rooms and hallways which serve as
escape routes.
• whether smoke detectors are very dusty or, for example, are heavily
soiled by cobwebs. The smoke inlets (grey grating) must be free.
• whether fluorescent tubes, fireplaces, stoves, air-conditioning and/or
ventilation devices have been installed later in the vicinity of the
smoke detectors.
