The provided Remote Control Unit allows the unit to be
operated from a distance.
When operating the remote control unit, point it towards
the REMOTE SENSOR on the front panel of the unit.

Even if the remote control unit is operated within the
effective range, remote control operation may be
impossible if there are any obstacles between the unit and
the remote control.

If the remote control unit is operated near other appliances
which generate infrared rays, or if other remote control
devices using infrared rays are used near the unit, it may
operate incorrectly. Conversely, the other appliances may
operate incorrectly.

To simplify explanations, instructions in this manual refer to
the names of the buttons and controls on the front panel
only. Associated controls on the remote control will also
operate similarly.
Display
AUX
When a component is connected to the AUX IN jack, use this
button to listen to the external source.
CD
Use this button to select CD mode.
In CD mode, use this button to start or pause playback.
OPEN/CLOSE
In CD mode, use this button to open and close the disc
compartment lid.
SKIP (

), TUNING
In CD mode, use these buttons to skip tracks. Holding down
either button offers “cue” or “review” functions.
In TUNER mode, use these buttons to tune in a station.
STOP
In CD mode, use this button to stop playback.
FM MODE/MP3
In FM TUNER mode, use this button to select stereo or
monaural.
During playback of a MP3 disc, use this button to search track
name.
During playback of CD, use this button to switch the ESP
function on or off.
VOLUME
Use this button to adjust the volume level.
AUX IN jack
You can connect a portable audio player to this jack.
Connect the LINE OUT or PHONES jack (audio output jack) of
the player using the supplied stereo mini plug cable.
When using the PHONES jack of your mini player, you must
adjust the volume of the mini-player or you may hear no
sound from your EX-M5.
Remote sensor
Receives signals from the remote control unit. Point the
remote control unit at this sensor when operating the remote
control unit.

MP3 FOLDER/PRESET
In TUNER mode, use this button to select preset stations.
During playback of a MP3 disc, use this button to select a
folder in the disc.
MUTING
Use this button to mute the sound.
SLEEP
Use this button to set sleep timer.
INTRO CHECK
In CD mode, use this button to start or stop the intro check
function.
FM/AM
In TUNER mode, press this button to select FM or AM.
FUNCTION
Use this button to select CD, AUX or TUNER.
PLAY/PAUSE
In CD mode, use this button to start or pause playback.
