Post Dynamic Inserts
Post Dynamics Inserts
Two different types of Limiters are available as post Dynamic
Inserts in the I4 block. The dynamic Transmission Limiter and
the static Production Limiter.
Transmission Limiter (TX)
Transmission Limiter with integrated Dynamic
Emphasis and Soft Clip.
This Insert is normally used for Transmission or Transmission
Emulation.
This Limiter is distortion cancelled and overshoot free.
- Activity of the Dynamic Limiter is shown by the
on-screen “LEDs” in the HF section.
- Activity of the Soft Clipper is shown by the
on-screen “LED” in the Softclip section.
- Activity of the Dynamic HF Limiter is shown by the
on-screen “LEDs” in the Lim. section.
Emphasis
The DBMAX generates Emphasis of the type given at the Lim
parameter (50μS, 75μS or J17).
You have different options for monitoring the Output signal
regarding Emphasis.
Emphasis is handled according to this table:
Out
Linear : When type is set to “OFF”, no Emphasis is applied.
E-E
: Emphasis on analog and digital Out.
E-D
: Emphasis on analog Out, De-Emphasis on digital Out.
D-E
: De-Emphasis on analog Out; Emphasis on digital Out.
D-D
: De-Emphasis on both analog and digital Outputs.
Lim
The Threshold setting of the Limiter.
Rel/s
Sets the Release time in the Transmission Limiter. This is the
fallback time for the Limiter after the signal drops below the
Threshold.
HF-compensation
HF compensation is given by the Dynamic HF Limiter, ensuring
optimum and distortion-free transmission.
Soft Clip
Soft Clip is related to Abs. Max Peak, which is set on the
Ref. Level page. Activity of the Soft Clipper is shown by the
on-screen “LED”.
Production Limiter
Production Limiter for use with analog DIN PPM meters or
digital peak meters.
Gain Reduction
Shows the actual gain reductions performed by the Limiter.
Limit
The Threshold setting of the Limiter.
This Limiter is distortion cancelled and the Attack time may be
calibrated to suit different environments:
ATK setting PPM:
Limiter characteristics to comply with analog PPM meters
(DIN45406/IEC268-10, 10ms).
ATK setting FAST:
Limiter characteristics to comply with analog PPM meters with a
fast response (1mS).
ATK setting TX:
Limiter characteristics to comply with digital meters (0mS).
Activity of the Dynamic Limiter is shown by the on-screen Gain
Reduction meter.
Soft Clip
Soft Clip is related to Abs. Max Peak, which is set on the Ref.
Level page. Activity of the Soft Clipper is shown by the
on-screen “LED”.
