In case of a faulty cleat, handle or spring, contact TAZ.
Rope or stitches wear and tear:
Pay special attention to the rope inspection and usage:
the material the rope is made of, polyamide, is very sensitive to cuts, friction, heat, UV rays,
chemical products, solvents, paint, fuel, and especially to acids (pay attention to batteries).
If any of the following damages occurs on the rope and/or its stitches, it must be retired
or returned to TAZ :
> visible signs of cuts or burns
> yarns are coming out
> visible non-identified stains
> no identification labels
> lack of smoothness when handling it, breaking aspect
In case of a fall arrest, any element that makes up the system can be damaged. Therefore,
retiring it is mandatory. A thorough inspection of the LOVROPE rope and of the LOV3 de-
vice, performed by a competent person, reported on the identification sheet, will judge its
future use (or retirement).
The TAZ LOVROPE rope is available as a spare part.
+ The locking screw
of the mobile plate must be touching the washer, and the washer
must be touching the plate. If you remove it to change the rope or for inspection purpo-
ses, when reinstalling it with its spacer, make sure to tighten it to a maximum torque of
2.90N/m.
COMPATIBILITY
The only body protection devices allowed to be used with the product are a belt compliant
with EN 358, or a harness compliant with EN 813 just for positioning, or a harness com-
pliant with EN 361 equipped with a belt compliant with EN 358 designed to stop any falls.
When attaching the device on the harness or on the belt, and the rope in the anchor or on
the harness, always use locking carabiners, connectors compliant with EN 362.
Never use any other ropes than TAZ LOVROPE.
Always observe these requirements.
WORKING PRINCIPLE:
When the operator is suspended by the equipment via their harness, the tool tips over due
to the load. The rope pivots the mobile sheave, creating a clamping effect at the opposite
end, between the two sheaves
(diagram F)
. To release the locking effect and to reposition,
the operator firmly holds the free rope, opens the handle, and pushes it downwards, in
the same direction.
WARNING:
Always hold on the free rope when pushing down on the handle. It is man-
datory to practice using the handle release for braking/locking purposes.
SETTING UP THE ROPE when reinstalling it:
The rope must always be placed with the stitched loop on the anchor point side, to be able
to attach to it to the anchor point. To install the tool on the rope, open the mobile plate,
place the fixed plate on the rope, with the attachment point towards the stitched loop (so,
on the anchor side), and the handle in the opposite direction. Pass the rope through the
longitudinal space between the 2 sheaves. Close the mobile plate symmetrically on the
fixed plate, thus closing the rope inside the LOV3 device. At this stage, check that the cleat
holds the PPE correctly on the rope. To close the fixed plate, slide the plastic spacer between
the plate and the cleat axle, insert the locking screw (with its washer) in the mobile plate,
in the spacer, and the tighten it in the cleat axle, with a maximum torque of 2.90N/m.
ANCHORS:
The anchor of the system must meet the requirements of the EN 795 standard for 12kN,
and the rope that will be used must be TAZ LOVROPE.
Identifiable simple anchor: Connect the end of the rope.
Anchor around a structure:
Pass the rope around the structure, making sure to avoid any abrasive surfaces.
OPERATION
(Diagram G)
:
Firstly, install the LOV3 device on the belt via a connector that is clipped to the attachment
point of the tool and to the two holding points of the belt; then:
> Either as a double lanyard around a structure (G1):
Pass the lanyard around the structure, and connect the stitched end of the rope on the hol-
ding points of the belt. Check that the LOV3 device is always connected in one of the hol-
ding points of the belt. If you have a main linking connector on the belt or on the harness,
make sure that this one can operate on three axes (e.g. a triangular quick link).
.The structure must be positioned above the user’s waist.
> Or as a simple lanyard G2)
Connect the lanyard directly in the anchor point using the stitched end of the rope. Check
that the LOV3 device is always connected in one of the holding points of the belt. The
anchor point must be positioned above the user’s waist.
> For the 2 usages (G1, G2): Always keep the lanyard tight.
To take in slack on the lanyard, pull on the braking free end of the rope. To reposition your-
self, load the lanyard and firmly hold the free rope. Gradually pull the handle while holding
the braking free rope to give slack. You can also give slack by pulling the rope going to the
anchor point upwards with one hand, while holding the free rope with the other hand,
never letting it go, and always maintaining the tool on the rope axis while giving slack.
After finishing, the user must always let the tool tip over by releasing it. Afterwards, AVOID
any action on the tool itself.
