MAINTENANCE OF THE BOCIAN 170 AND 225 SWATHER
TINES
Check the spring tine condition regularly. Loose tines should be tightened immediately. The correct
torque for tine bolts is 220 Nm (160 lb.ft.). Broken tines should be replaced immediately.
Tine retainers are fitted to keep a broken tine attached to the rotor. If a machine with a broken tine
continues to be used, it will wear away the tine retainer and the tine will be lost in the crops. This
may result in the damaging of the harvesting equipment. If the tines are shortened due to wear, it
may be necessary to also shorten any new tines before their fitting in order to maintain balance.
Check the spring tine bolts for tightness daily. This should also be done after 1 hour’s work when new
tines have been fitted.
Check that all tine retainers are present and tight. Tine retainers will prevent broken tines from being
lost in the crops. Always replace a tine retainer with a new one while replacing a broken tine.
TINE REPLACEMENT
Before commencing any work, ensure that the rotor has come to a rest, tractor is stopped, and the
key is removed from the ignition switch.
Always ensure that the machine is securely propped before working underneath it.
Undo the two bolts securing the tine retainer and remove it. If the tine retainer is damaged, it will
have to be replaced. Remove the broken tine and replace it with a new one using a 13 mm and 17
mm wrench. Tighten the nut to the correct torque and refit the tine retainer.
CHAIN TENSION
Chain tension should be checked at least once a day and adjusted if necessary.
To adjust the chain tension, undo the chain guard and lower the tightener spring by one hole in the
tightener base. If the chain cannot be tightened by means of the tightener, it must be reduced by
one link.
LUBRICATION
The machine grease nipples should be attended at least once a day. Their location is as follows:
Rotor bearing housing
2 nipples
Drive shaft bearing housing
2 nipples
Wheel suspension
4 nipples
Wheel adjustment
2 nipples
The gearbox oil level should be checked every 50 operating hours. Furthermore, it is recommended
to replace the gearbox oil at least once a year. Recommended oil type: HIPOL 80W90 GL4
