Connecting the vehicle power supply
The PTC-870IM’s power range is
identified on the unit below the
power connector.
1.
Verify that the vehicle’s power range matches that
of the PTC.
2.
Disconnect the main battery from the vehicle’s
electrical system.

Terminate the power cable as close
to the battery terminal as possible.

If you do not follow this polarity,
you could cause damage to the PTC
or the vehicle.
3.
Using wire cutters, prepare the unterminated end of
the power cable and wire it to the vehicle’s DC power
source. Observe the proper polarity as follows:
Black wire = +
White wire = –
4. Route the loose end of the power cable from the
vehicle’s power source to the PTC-870IM.
5.
Secure the cable with cable ties to prevent it from
snagging or catching on something.
6.
Plug the power cable into the PTC’s power
connector.
7.
Connect the main battery to the vehicle’s
electrical system.
Mounting the PTC-870IM
Equipment required:
•
A PTC-870IM mounting kit containing two
leather washers, two plastic spacers, and two
mounting handles
1.
Position the PTC inside the mounting bracket,
making sure the holes on each side of the PTC
line up with the holes in the top of the bracket.
2.
Insert the leather washers between the PTC and
the mounting bracket, making sure all of the
holes are aligned.
