4.
Trial fit the bathtub. Make sure the bathtub is level
and all feet on the bathtub are making firm contact
with the subfloor. Make sure all plumbing
connections align properly.
a.
It may be necessary to place shims under the
bathtub for best overall subfloor contact. (See
Special Application For Sound Deadening Or
Fireproofing section in this manual).
b. I
t may also be necessary to shim between the
bathtub flange and the enclosure framework, or
the existing wall board, for best overall bathtub
flange clip contact
.
Make sure all the bathtub clips contact (fit against) the
studs or existing wall board. If a gap exists, shim behind
the clips to prevent damage to the bathtub flange when
the bathtub clip nails are installed
5.
The bathtub is now ready for a slurry of fast drying
cement (Quikrete or other product). Place up to a
1/2” thick layer of mortar or thinset on the floor. This
will ensure complete contact and support by the
existing subfloor, eliminating bathtub flex during
normal use.
This product is not designed for above-the-floor
mounting (the base of the bathtub must be fully
supported by the subfloor). Any application of this type,
or application other than that covered in this manual, will
void the warranty.
6.
Place the bathtub into the framework enclosure and
firmly press it into the mortar/thinset. The bottom
front edge of the bathtub should contact the floor
surface. Level the bathtub in both directions.
7.
Secure the bathtub clips to the studs with large head
roofing nails (one nail per clip). Allow the
mortar/thinset to cure for 24 hours.
8.
Make sure the protective plastic liner is in the
bathtub and/or place cardboard, or similar
scratch-resistant material, in the bottom of the
bathtub to prevent possible damage during further
construction
9.
Follow all local building codes and manufacturers
instructions to install the bathtub enclosure walls and
install the plumbing fixtures.
