4.7.1. OPERATION:
a. Move the machine into its work-
ing position next to the wood to
be split.
b. Set park brake if connected to
tow vehicle.
c. Lower and check that the stand
is locked with the snapper pin.
d. Close choke if engine is cold.
e. Open the fuel supply valve.
f. Pull sharply on the starting rope
to start the engine.
g. Run the engine for a few min-
utes to allow it to warm.
h Gradually open the choke.
i. Slowly increase engine speed to
maximum RPM.
j. Place wood on the splitting
frame against the anvil.
k.
Move the lever toward the wood
and hold to advance the wedge
towards the wood or log to start
splitting.
l. Release the lever when the log
splits into 2 pieces or the cylin-
der rod reaches the end of the
stroke, and the rod will stop.
m.
Move the lever away from the
wood and place in detent to
retract the cylinder rod. Re-
lease the lever, it will return to
its centered neutral position.
The cylinder rod will stop mov-
ing when the pressure builds up
enough to kick the lever out of
detent at the end of the stroke.
