5-6 Adding PCI Cards
1. PCI Expansion Slots
The X7DBR-8 has two Universal PCI slots (each consisting of a x8 PCI-Express
slot and a 100 MHz PCI-X slot). Two preinstalled riser cards support the use of
one standard size 100 MHz PCI-X and one low profi le PCI-X 100 MHz add-on card.
(Two riser cards to support one standard size and one low-profi le x8 PCI-Express
add-on cards are included in the accessory box.) (One 100 MHz PCI-X slot sup-
ports Zero Channel RAID.)
The CSE-RR1U-X riser supports a standard size PCI-X 100 MHz card and the
CSE-RR1U-XLP riser supports a low profi le PCI-X 100 MHz card.
An additional two riser cards are included as accessories to support add-on cards
in the x8 PCI-Express slots: the CSE-RR1U-EL for a standard size x8 PCI-Express
card and the CSE-RR1U-ELP for a low profi le x8 PCI-Express card.
2. PCI card installation
Before installing a PCI add-on card, make sure you install it into the correct riser
card. Begin by releasing the locking tab that corresponds to the slot you wish to
populate. Insert the expansion card into the correct riser card, pushing down with
your thumbs evenly on both sides of the card.
