Chapter 4
Motherboard Connections
This section describes the connections on the motherboard and provides pinout definitions.
Note that depending on how the system is configured, not all connections are required.
The LEDs on the motherboard are also described here. A motherboard layout indicating
component locations may be found in Chapter 1.
Please review the Safety Precautions in Appendix B before installing or removing components.
4.1 Power Connections
Two power connections on the X11DPS-RE must be connected to the power supply. The
wiring is included with the power supply.

SMCI-Proprietary Power (PSU1/PSU2)

8-pin Processor Power (JPWR1/JPWR2)
SMCI-Proprietary Power Connectors
Two SMCI-proprietary Power Supply Unit connectors, located at PSU1/PSU2, provide main
power to your system. Please note that these power connectors are reserved for Supermicro
system use only.
PCIE-Proprietary Power Connectors
JPWR1/2 are 12-pin power connectors used by proprietary PCIE-based memory backplane
designs. Connect appropriate power cables here to provide power to your PCI-E devices.

Required Connection
Important:
To provide adequate power to the motherboard, connect the 24-pin
and
the 8-pin
power connectors to the power supply. Failure to do so may void the manufacturer's warranty
on your power supply and motherboard.
