Note: 

The hard drives are designated with numbers 0 through 9 from left to right. 

When setting up RAID, one RAID level may be applied to drives 0-3, 8 and 9 (the 
I-SATA drives) and one RAID level may be applied to drives 4-7 (the S-SATA drives). 
You may not apply a single RAID level across all eight drives.

Caution:

 Except for short periods of time (swapping hard drives), do not operate 

the server with the hard drive carriers removed.
Enterprise level hard disk drives are recommended for use in Supermicro chassis 
and servers. For information on recommended HDDs, visit the Supermicro Web site
