How to use a Dump Station
•
Dump stations are small essential facilities that
help protect public health and the environment
by ensuring proper disposal of wastewater tanks
of motorhomes & caravans.
•
Find the nearest (free) public dump station on
the Sunrise Camping Map or Rankers Camping
NZ App
In your Campervan
•
Before removing the cassette, open and close
the toilet slide a few times so when you remove
the cassette you won’t get waste water over
your hands and on the bottom of the cassette
compartment.
Opening the Cover
•
Some dump stations may have a grate which
prevents waste blocking the grate holes when
emptying the cassette.
•
Keep the cap of the cassette well away from the
hole in the case it falls down the inlet pipe. (see
above right photo)
Emptying & Rinsing the Cassette
•
Remove the cassette cap and place away from
the dump station.
•
Place the nozzle down the inlet pipe and
press the air release button to help empty the
cassette.
•
Ensure that the slide on the top of the cassette
is not loose as it will fall into the waste pipe and
block the system.
•
Use the water tap (usually marked not portable)
to rinse out the cassette afterwards.
•
Don’t forget to wash your cassette or replace the
grate if there is one.
