2.1.2 EOC Control
If LT was selected as the TEST MODE, a loopback can be used
on NT1 and any U-repeaters in the this screen. The Embedded
Operations Channel is a 2 kbps section of overhead on the ISDN
basic rate signal. It carries special commands to U-BRITE cards,
mid-span repeater, or NT1s.

The top three lines of this screen pertain to transmitted com-
mands. The bottom three lines display the received information.
When the module is configured to NT-144K or NT-LOOP mode
on the U interface, only the bottom three lines of the display will
be available.
ADDRESS
Options: 0–7
The EOC address is contained in the first three bits, and desig-
nates which device will receive the EOC command. Press NEXT
(F2) and PREV (F3) to make a selection. The address is displayed
at right in parentheses. The following are available:
• 0: NT1
• 1–6: Mid-span U-repeaters or U-BRITE card. 1 refers to the
first repeater on the span; 2 to the second, and so forth.
• 7: Global, the selected COMMAND will be performed by the
first device to receive it.
Note: The first three bits of EOC BITS change as ADDRESS is
changed.
