3.  Check that all 4 feet are firmly attached to the pump.

4.  Check power cord and plug for damage. 

5.  Tip the pump in several directions and listen for any indication of loose parts. Check housings for damage. 

If there is any indication of loose parts or a damaged housing, discontinue use and contact your local dealer or 
Stryker’s Customer Service.

PRESSURE CHECK

1.  Plug in the pump and turn it on. Allow the pump to operate for at least 60 minutes before proceeding.

2.  Screw the pump’s inflator cap onto the tester. Attach

” ID tubing from the manometer to the fitting on the 

tester (See Figure 1).

3.  Plug the orifice on the end of the tester with a finger.  

Repeat a minimum of three (3) times. With the orifice plugged, the pressure reading on the manometer should 
be 18-32 mm Hg.

4.  With the finger removed from the orifice, the pressure reading on the manometer should be at least 13 mm Hg.

If any of the pressure readings are out of specification, discontinue use and contact your local dealer or Stryker’s 
Customer Service.

CURRENT LEAKAGE

The Care•Free Companion Pump has double insulated construction. It is not necessary to measure current 
leakage. However, if you choose to do so, refer to UL2601-1 “Medical Electrical Equipment, Part 1: General 
Requirements for Safety”, Sub-clause 19.4g. 

GROUND RESISTANCE

Double insulated appliances are permitted to have two conductor cords (refer to NFPA 99 “Standard for Health 
Care Facilities,” paragraph 9-2.1.2.2). Measuring ground resistance is not applicable to the Care•Free Companion 
Pump.

CLEANING

After completing the Functional Check, clean the pump housing with a mild detergent and damp cloth. Wipe dry 
with a clean cloth before operating. Do not submerge in water. Do not autoclave.
