8 REMOTE ADMINISTRATION
Both Encoder and Decoder may be remotely managed over a
TCP/IP network from your PC via Microsoft® Windows
Remote Desktop client.
8.1 Windows Remote Desktop
To begin a session, simply start the Remote Desktop client
on the remote PC using the following command and login:
Run command:
mstsc /v:[IP Address of encoder or decoder]
Login/Password: Administrator/demo
Remote Desktop requires a TCP/IP connection between the
remote PC and the Encoder or Decoder; therefore, T1/E1
equipped systems will need a separate TCP/IP connection
through the Ethernet port. The remote connection can be as
simple as direct cables and a hub, or a LAN, WAN, or
Internet link, or even via dial up modem if necessary.
NOTE: When setting up a network connection, remember to
select “Option/Local Resources/Local Devices/Disk Drives”
before connecting if you plan to copy of update files. Select
“Leave sound on the remote system” in Option/Local
Resources/Local Devices/Disk Drives before connecting to
the Encoder.
Using Remote Desktop can impact system and network
performance, especially when sharing a limited bandwidth
connection that is also being used for the video transport.
When operating at high bit rates or in low latency mode,
lower the encoding bit rates while making changes, then
restore the desired settings before ending the remote
session.
