ftServer System: Installing a U918 PCI Card
To install a U918 PCI card in an ftServer T Series system, perform the following steps.
As you perform each step, refer to the associated figure.
1. Loosen the two thumbscrews at the front of the I/O enclosure.
2. Pull the two ejector levers out.
3. With one hand on either side of the enclosure, pull it straight out until it is stopped
by the safety lever on its right side. Push down the front end of the lever to
disengage it.
4. Using two hands, pull the enclosure straight out and place it on a flat, stable
surface.
5. Remove the cover from the enclosure (see your ftServer T Series documentation).
6. Identify the slot(s) into which you intend to install the PCI card(s), as described in
“ftServer System: Locating the PCI Card Slots” earlier in this chapter.
7. Loosen the screw and retract the card retaining clip.
8. Touch the side of the enclosure to discharge any static electricity (see your ftServer
T Series documentation).
C A U T I O N
To avoid damaging the PCI card, leave the card in its
static-protective envelope until you are ready to install it.
When you remove the card, hold it by its edges.
9. Remove the U918 PCI card from its static-protective envelope.
