Instructions
Before first use
• When your new gas cooktop has been professionally installed, please
take the time to read this manual thoroughly to familiarise yourself with the
appliance. Pay particular attention to the safety instructions on pages 5–7.
• Check and ensure the cooktop is securely plugged into an appropriate
wall outlet and power is switched on to the outlet.
Lighting the cooktop
• The control panel at the front of
the cooktop has five control knobs,
one for each burner; the small diagram
to the right of each knob illustrates
which burner it controls. (Fig. 13: C).
• Each control knob has three positions:
CLOSED (at the top), HIGH (Fig. 14: A),
and LOW (Fig. 14: B).
• To light a burner, press down the
appropriate control knob gently and turn it
anticlockwise to the HIGH
position. When
the burner lights, keep the knob depressed
for approximately 15 seconds to ensure it stays lit when released.
• Turn the knob to the required position, anywhere between the
HIGH and
LOW settings. Do NOT set it between CLOSED and HIGH.
• In the event of a burner flame being accidentally extinguished, turn off the
burner control
and wait for at least one minute before reigniting it
.
• After use, always turn the control knob to the CLOSED position.
NOTE
You can use matches to light the burners in the event of a power failure.
Flame failure feature
• Each burner on this gas cooktop has a flame failure safety device, which
cuts off the gas supply to the burner if the flame is blown out. To ensure
the flame stays lit, you must hold down the control knob for approximately
15 seconds before releasing it.
• Gas cooktops with a flame failure safety device have ignition plugs
(ignitors) and flame failure probes (thermocouples), which need to be kept
clean for proper operation (cleaning instructions follow on page 26).
