Covering and Painting
(continued)
59.
Cover the
upper
surfaces of the wings only. Do not cover the
bottom
surface of the wings –
doing so will greatly degrade the flying performance of the model. Cover, or paint the tail
surfaces on both sides.
60.
Paint the struts, landing gear fairings, parts LG2 (sheet 10/10, 1/32 in. ply) and the wheel
pants with a lacquer-based paint. We recommend Design Master Color Tool, available at
most craft stores. Only apply enough paint to color the parts. Excessive paint adds weight.
Radio and Pushrods
61.
Locate the two 12 in. lengths of .015 in. wire (included in the kit). Refer to the Pushrod
Detail drawing on Detail Sheet 2 of 2. Make a “snake bend” at one end of each piece of
the .015 in. wire.
62.
Fit the “snake bends” through the
center
hole in each servo tab. Rotate the pushrod until
the short end of the wire points
up,
and
away
from the circuit board.
63.
Pass the pushrods through the appropriate holes in the formers and fuselage sides. The
rudder pushrod (closest to the antenna on the receiver brick) will pass through the
left
hole
in former F9 (marked R), then through the
right
hole in former F12 (marked R), then through
the exit slot along the
upper
edge of the
right
fuselage side, immediately in
front
of former
F13.
The elevator pushrod will pass through the
center
hole (marked E) in former F9, the
left
hole (marked E) in former F12, and then out through the exit slot along the
lower
edge of
the
left
fuselage side, immediately in
front
of former F13.
Fit the
rear
edge of the receiver brick into the notch in the short arm of the receiver clip.
Make sure that the receiver clip is
centered
on the tray, then press
down
on the
front
edge
of the receiver brick until it snaps in place
under
the long arm of the clip.
64.
Cover the
bottom
of the fuselage. Use a sharp hobby knife to remove the covering over the
opening for the radio compartment.
